Gorton make final Charity donation

Gorton Mark Lodge No.1034, reduced to 10 active members with an average age of 76 years, reluctantly surrendered their Warrant on 30th March 2021.
On Thursday 8th July the Officers of the Lodge made their final Charity donation to St James’ Parish Church, Gorton.
A bequest of £6,000 was left by a Lodge widow34 years ago in memory of her husband. The widow, herself a Lady Mason, stipulated that the money must be used for charity and that should the Lodge ever have to close down, the capital more “Gorton make final Charity donation”

2021 Festival, the end

Brethren, we have finally reached the conclusion of our 2021 Festival for the benefit of the Mark Benevolent Fund. It has been a long and challenging road and one which has been overshadowed by the Covid-19 pandemic, which none of us could ever have imagined.
We are all disappointed that our Festival Banquet has been cancelled as a result of the extension of Covid prevention measures, but all the disappointment paled into insignificance as our Festival total was revealed. Tony Davies Memorial Walk

24 June 2021 Tony Davies Memorial Walk in the Dark Peak around Blackhill near Holmfirth.
On an overcast day, an enthusiastic group (see photo) of walkers started on the much-heralded and postponed walk in memory of Tony, the first 2021 Festival chairman. After a short silence for Tony, we set off about 10:30 am -target back at the pub for 2:00 pm! The talk of old friends and events and the nearly complete release from lockdown filled the air on the “mountainside”. 

The mood became quieter as more “Tony Davies Memorial Walk”
